With over 10 years of experience in counseling and clinical care management, Tracy Bowens has developed a thriving practice providing care for women in the corporate world. She is a former supervisor of clinical services at a large managed care company, former Behavior Intervention Specialist, clinical trainer, independent consultant, group facilitator and Associate Professor of Psychology and Forensic Psychology.
Tracy earned her Masters Degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. This afforded her enhanced training in mental health and its intersections with the legal system. She has been trained in forensic interviewing, providing counseling and treatment to people involved in the legal system: criminal court, civil court and family court.
Tracy works within her private practice as a therapist and consultant and sees both forensic and non-forensic populations. She also has extensive training on trauma and abuse, Tracy has received extensive training and provided therapy to survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner violence in and out of dedicated shelters to survivors. She has facilitated domestic violence empowerment groups for adult survivors as well as children and adolescent survivors.
Her approach is a person-centered one, understanding that no two people will respond similarly to the same interventions or techniques. Because of this fundamental belief, she utilizes modalities most suited to each client: reinforcing inherent skills and partnering with them for best results and outcomes.
